加拿大碧玉属于软玉（Nephrite Jade ）的一种，产于BC（British Columbia）北部，它基本有三种：北极玉(POLAR JADE)，卡西玉(CASSIAR JADE)和普通的带黑点的碧玉(GREEN JADE WITH BLACK SPOT)，国内的网友们说的都是最后面的一种，它因为有黑点，一般只用来雕刻成工艺品。而国内所用的又通常是B级或C级的。
加拿大碧玉分AA(珠宝级)， A(通用级)， B(雕刻级)， C(工业级，做高级桌面，墙砖等)，现在大家该知道为什么国内人感觉加拿大碧玉品质好像不比别的好多少了。
虽然中国是加拿大碧玉的最大进口国， 但最高级的北极玉产量极少，而且70%是出口到欧洲的，中国只进极少部分，顶级都用来仿最高级的翡翠了(高级北极玉和高级翡翠一样，都是晶莹翠绿，大家买高级翡翠时要注意了)，这也是为什么在国内，基本上没有人提过北极玉(POLAR JADE)。

这个玉矿位于加拿大北不列颠哥伦比亚省，110英里以东的阿拉斯加州朱诺山区。由于地形险峻，和极端天气条件，一年只有60天挖掘季节。

不知道为什么好玉都产自那么偏远慌凉的地方，也许才能现的玉的珍贵。。

往往都是人迹难寻的地方。。

。但加拿大对玉的开采还是比较有计划的，不过度开采，也不使用炸药

野蛮开采，浪费多少资源，至今可能还有许多爱惜玉的朋友为那些被炸药开采的料而痛惜

Jade Mining Information!

In order to bring you the finest Nephrite Jade available, we mine the Jade ourselves. The process involved in bringing the Jade out to you is quite rigorous and demanding. Yearly, we extract approximately 100 tonnes of Jade, incredibly this Jade has to be found and processed at the Mine Site within a very short mining season.

In order to understand the incredible effort involved, you need to be aware of two things; the Location of the Mine, and the Process of Jade Mining.

在非常短的时间内，这个矿每年出大约100吨的料子，为了让大家体会到挖玉的辛苦，让大家了解一下矿山的地理位置，和玉石的开采过程

在这么短的时间里，料子从山体中剥离出来，非常的困难。
This process involves drilling into the mountain side with Water cooled diamond tipped core drills. The cores are than extracted and examined to determine if the Jade will meet the gem grade requirements suitable for our finished products and gem stones. Since the Mining season is so short, and the Jade so difficult to remove from the mountainside, our miners have to be very selective about which Jade Deposits they will focus their energy on








让我感动的不是加拿大的碧玉，让我觉得资源的开发要用合理的方式。

我觉得中国人不但有深远的玉石文化，中国人的爱玉情节超出了我的想想。。。。，有玉的地方就有中国人。。

但感觉雕刻的作品直白一些。。

也可能与社会文化有关吧

其中也有不少我们文化的东西

Tom Finneran is well known for his creative designs and exquisitely detailed carving and machining using Jade as the main focus, sometimes coupled with differing metals. His superb bangles were once again a great hit during the show, as were his many fine pendants and unusual jade amphorae

Hnin Eindani was born in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma), in a country which is well established Internationally for its artistic expression, and is a well known jewelry designer in her own right.

Her Father was one of Myanmar’s best known traditional Buddhistic sculptors in Jadeite, Marble and Wood.  ”He was my first teacher in learning the basics of sculpting. But my interest grew more in creating my own designs for jewelry as they are infinitely more personal and wearable”. Hnin was a definite hit of the show who brought  forth a depth of Jadeite creations of such fine quality as had never been shown before.

他是福建的。。很厉害90年代初去奥洲。。做大了。。
